Over the last year or two, I have found myself posting a quick picture to Instagram and moving on. And sometimes I have too many words than I feel like typing on my phone and my thoughts go undocumented… not that anyone but me cares. And then the other day, the Husband asks me why do I watch so much TV? Why don’t you read or write like you used to? So here I am… on a Wednesday morning with my coffee and my thoughts before work.
So here is a quick observation
For over a year I have been working from home. This means that once or twice a week, I try to get showered and dressed at a reasonable time, pack up my bag and head out to a local coffee shop. The town I live in has plenty so I try to rotate around. I don’t want anyone knowing my coffee order when I walk in or how many pastries I have had this week. I’ve got a few favorites but there is a new-ish one on Main Street that seems like it should be a winner… but every time I go in, it’s a comedy of errors.
Yesterday, I posted this image to Instagram (@cohalfpint, if you don’t follow)
Seems nice, right? This was the coffee that was supposed to sit along side my breakfast sandwich. See, one of the perks of going out to work is that I can treat myself with a breakfast that isn’t granola and yogurt in a coffee mug. Well, I went to order breakfast and the barista stops me mid sentence to let me know that the kitchen staff didn’t show up today… but she could offer me a day old pastry if I was hungry.
The first time I visited this establishment, I ordered a bottomless cup of coffee only to be told when I went for my refill that they were currently out of drip coffee. It’s a coffee shop, on a weekday morning, downtown. How are you out of drip coffee? Of course, it eventually came but it meant I didn’t have time to take advantage of the third cup and had to head out.
Anyway, what I am trying to say… Actually, I have no idea what I was trying to say, I just had to get that off of my chest. I guess I can cross this place off of my list. What is it about a coffee shop that makes it an ideal place to get some work done? Any Colorado favorites I should put on my list?
